Ladies and Gentlemen: The Helix!

All day all I could think about is that I wanted to get my helix today. I was so pumped but a couple of delays made me a little more nervous than excited. I kept pushing people to go and we finally got there ... at 6. Karen got her vertical tragis but the guy doesn't do cartilage so she got a surface piercing that lies in front of it. Hers bled and Brooke looked horrified. While I was waiting, Celeste and William were criticizing the Chinese characters in the book for tattoo ideas. They were both astounded of how wrong some of them were. It was my turn now and I was nervous. I hate the suspense part, you know when you're waiting to get it over with? I tend to imagine its way worse but usually I can handle it. Nonetheless, I held Celeste's hand and the process was quick but not painless.

Right now the pain is gone but only if I don't touch it. This piercing is meant to commemorate my trip this summer. Yay!

Blast from the Past

So what an eventful week. I spent a lot of money on clothes and planning to spend more so soon. I had eaten at a handful of restaurants so I won't be doing reviews however I'll post some pictures once I get them uploaded.

There was a fight at Laser Quest!!! I helped break it apart and got a bit of blood on my arm which I washed off. The guys were high, insulting everyone and playing quite rough. One of them got into a brawl with one of the dads there. Tracey's boyfriend got in but only to stop the fight. Erick helped too since he was marshalling. Afterwards, I went to Dunn's with Ali, Alex, and Martin. I had a smoked meat sandwich :)

I bought skinny jeans in purple and a rasberry pink color, a thick sweater and a blazer. I had bought the jeans in a size 29 but I checked and I went down to a 28. I'm not sure if I really lost weight or if it's the make of the jeans. I want to know but there's not scales here :( I was going to buy a shirt from French Connexion but the guys' shirts look horrible on me. Curse you, shoulders!! I hope to get more jeans ... they're cheap(er than Bongo) and they fit better. Maybe red, another black, and denim ? Oh, I saw this bag but I'm not quite sure if I should get it ... it's soooooo pretty. Did I mention I got a new backpack ?  >8D

I redid my dye job so it's brighter and the orange part is a bit more blonder. It costed me way too much especially since I didn't ask for that moisturizing treatment!!! Good thing my cheque came in the mail otherwise I might've been short. Anyways, its shorter and it almost looks like my grad pictures I got done in December.

I am on the hunt for Ed Hardy/Dom Rebel/ True Religion clothing for Jessica. If I get one that's good enough for her. And something for Linda too. I already got something for my mom and dad. Polar bears rule.

Today I went to Ottawa. It was pretty interesting to see all the old architecture. I went to Old Montreal to see the fireworks and eat more delicious food. Next week is full of plans and I hope to get my helix done :)

HOT HOT POT!!!

The skies are gray. I had my oral exam and I was freaking nervous. Brooke said I did okay. At the end of class, my professor played a song that is very catchy. Celeste and I went to a very small Chinatown to eat some hot pot.

It was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS !!!!!!! /droooooool

We went back to residence to chill and get ready before we go out. There was some beer drinking in my room ... definitely not a big beer person. I received a phone call and I thought the guy said, "Have you been verified yet?" but since everyone was so loud in my room I ended up not getting what the guy said and hung up. The ringing continued through all the rooms down the hallway. Celeste left only to come back to tell us what was going on. Apparently, a pervert has been calling all the rooms. If a girl picked up then he would moan and say very inappropriate things. Lots of girls got interviewed by security. One would rationalized that a resident was doing this because of how quickly he called the rooms. Very creepy indeed.

Anyways, the beer drinking continued. We were all waiting till it was late enough to go out but it ended up not happening at all. Karen came out to all the girls there and she felt unbelievably happy.

Saturday, I attempted to go shopping but only bought a belt and a bottle of SoHo, which is lychee liquer. That night, I went to the Planetarium but it was boring since the whole thing was in French. Still, it was cool to see the stars like that ... it reminded me of the times I went camping.

Sunday, William cooked MEAT in Celeste's room with a borrowed hot plate. It was delicious I must say. Celeste and I went to go see Tamtams which is a park that people come together to play drums and other musical instruments. It was fun and had a primal edge. People were dancing and kept doing so even when it rained. There was this cute little girl that kept smiling at us everytime we waved!!  :D~

Jumping Over the Middle of the Week

The past couple of days just flew by. It's been tough to stay awake in class so it seems like I'm reverting back to my old habits. I'm not I really am trying but it's so difficult when your body doesn't listen. On top of that, I've been completely exhausted from traveling everywhere.

I had to play some Laser Quest since I was terribly homesick. I played 3 games and made new friends with the crew over there. The day after that, Erick from LQM invited Celeste and me to Just for Laughs. It was freaking awesome of him to invite us especially since Celeste is a "cripple" and hadn't been out of her room for the past couple of days. We totally had a blast.

This is my favorite chair. I do not own it but it's m favorite.
Go ahead, try and penetrate my forcefield.

Why are you flinching, man?!? Huh, why are you flinching?
Murder! Murder! Mouse! I'm just touching my head, j-j-just touching my head!

Stage directions: Blink. Wave to someone to the audience.
"Iran, Iraq, Iran ... "
Cough. Drink some water. Wink. Pause. Continue.

First Weekend: In Quebec City and Fallen Stairs

Saturday, I went on a day trip to Quebec City. It has very old structures still intact. We were in the downtown area and it's quite hilly ... worse than Montreal. Apparently, this year is their 400th Anniversary and they are still celebrations going on about. One of the best highlights is the Christmas store, buying an umbrella, and the amazing statues they have. On the way back, I was told that I pretty much took two seats and leaving Celeste with no space. I have no idea ... I was asleep. =(

That night we hung out in Karen's room. She was drunk and didn't want us to leave. She poured vodka on Celeste's head. She wanted to go shower but Karen wouldn't let her go. Celeste's plan of action is to go to the 13th floor, run to the other side and go back up to her side of the building. Unfortunately, she fell and sprained her ankle. We were at the hospital for about 3.5 hours or more. I didn't go to bed until 6a.m.

Celeste is ok. She just has to use crutches and some painkillers/anti-inflammatory medications. =)

The First Day, the Next Day and the Day After That!

Tuesday was actually the first day of class. It turns out that my instructor's first language is English. Various time she said stuff in English but we have to keep it a secret since everyone is speaking French no matter what level. At least the large and very expressive hand gestures help a lot. After class, Karen and I met up with Celeste to line up for the various activities we have/want to sign up for. We signed up for everything we wanted to do except the Quebec City day trip was full.

Disappointed, we all went to Cote de Nieges for some shopping. We were all hungry so we decided to eat some pizza. Please see review at the end of the blog. I bought a American Apparel sweater but I think its doesn't fit right now. Especially the shoulders. We chilled at Res until the Pizzalympics were about to start. Fortunately, I got pizza right away. Unfortunately, I was so tired that I fell asleep on the hill.

Wednesday, more class and more learning. We went to the Museum of Arts and looked at various artworks. After the whole affair was over, Celeste and I ate a cute eatery called Sushi Shop. Again, review will be at the bottom. Then satisfied we walked down St. Catherine's and found LASER QUEST!!  Unfortunately, we were too beat to play but we got a tour of their amazingly awesome maze.

Thursday, I had to sit in on the afternoon class. The whole time it was very difficult to stay awake. More grocery shopping and had an early  dinner at Nickel's, which the chain is apparently owned by Celine Dion. Review. At. The. Bottom. Of. Blog! Everyone wanted to go out but I chose not to because I still had some homework to do. Karen pre-drank and kept hugging me and saying, "I love you" to me.

(Pizza Restaurant that I forgot)
Rating: 3/5

For less than 3$, I had a very thin but wide slice of pizza. The pizza itself was decent, however it wasn't made fresh. Basically, a bunch of pizzas were made ahead of time then when ordered are placed back in the oven to give them a little heat. You also get a can of pop, I chose ice tea. It was satisfying enough since that day I didn't want to eat a lot. It's like a quick meal on the go. The price is fair for the amount of food and it works when you don't want/spend a lot.

Sushi Shop
Rating: 4.5/5

This cute, very green restaurant caught our attention. Mainly because their shop logo is a fish that looks a lot like the Lulu Lemon symbol. But more fish like. Walking in, they had a shelf of already prepared sushi for the on to go person. The service was interesting because it's comparable to that of a fast food place. No pimply-faced teenagers here, trust me. You order, sit down, and they serve your food to you in a lovely plastic container. Soy sauce included. What I like is that the wasabi is no where close to touching any of the sushi; a detail many restaurants miss. All of their sushi is AMAZING. Truly delicious with bits of tempura pieces to add some crunch in all the rolls. Even the vegetarian roll was equally delicious with the rest of pieces. I have to agree with my partner in crime but the soy sauce is a bit sweet than what we were used to. I wasn't a huge fan with the raw fish because it reminded me of Tokyo Express. I prefer fresh fresh fresh raw fish. For two people, 26 pieces was able to satisfy us with a low low price of approximately 22$.

Nickel's
Rating: 3.8/5

This restaurant chain is owned by none other Celine Dion. Which explains why one of the desserts is named after her. I had a James Dean burger which is a bacon cheeseburger. To be continued....

The Placement Test and Not Saying Please

Monday, we had the placement test. Anyone who knew nothing about French was asked to leave because it was pointless for them to write the test. So, I went with a couple of other people to go grocery shopping. I ended up helping Tammy to carry her stuff since she bought so much. I notice she doesn't say "please" ever since she got her so I called her out on it. I just find it very rude, you know?

Celeste and I discovered that the Exo Market is cheaper for fruits and veggies but not for canned goods. We attempted to find Laser Quest Montreal by going to the center point of St Catherine. On our way there, we discovered The Source where I bought a ethernet cable and a Future Shop where we both bought fans. The things we do for a little bit of luxury. Since we walked a fair bit of distance our purchases dragged us down a bit. We decided to go home but the stupid Metro kept taking its sweet ass time! Both the orange and blue line took FOREVER!! *angry face*

I was glad that I got home and enjoyed my internet and fan. *bliss*

Confiserie chocolats Leonidas
Rating: 4/5

A small ice cream/chocolate shop right next to a hotel. It grabbed my attention with a huge cardboard cut-out of a very appealing ice cream cone. (It was HOT, ok?) Celeste chose Black Cherry while I picked Lemon Sorbet. Both are pretty delicious. The girl that works there was very cheerful and even gave us a lot information about Montreal, which we probably forgot already. It was about 3$ I think for a single scoop.

Over the Rainbow

It's kind of sad when your own family can't see you off when you're going on a trip. Especially since this is a major milestone for me: 6 weeks on the other side of the country with no parents whatsoever. As we approached the airport, I became nervous. The dream has become a reality and the reality is that I'll be leaving one of my biggest comforts: Gavin. The picture here is on our last date before I had to go.

Flying to Calgary was practically painless. We even flew towards a very bright rainbow! Celeste and I were at the airport for almost 4 hours. That flight was less enjoy
able. I don't think I slept well since WestJet planes are not that comfortable. The whole flight Celeste kept saying, "I hope our luggage gets all the way to Montreal!" This didn't make me feel any better. Of course I planted the seed of doubt but she didn't have to water the thing.

In the sky, Montreal looked very interesting. I can see the waters surroundi
ng it therefore the city is actually an island. We were planning to get a cab to the residence since it was a flat rate of 35$ but there was this Asian guy with a giant "Explore" sign. Apparently, there was this shuttle bus for 20$ a pop. Celeste rationalized that the driver ripped us off, who is not the Asian guy.

I managed to drag my luggage on a slight decline. I checked in, got my keys  but didn't get internet. I settled in very quickly.

I was tired so I took a mini nap. Later on, Celeste and I went to explore the Metro system and managed to buy some monthly bus passes and some groceries. We also ate some pho, restaurant review at the end. I also went to the Jazz Festival very briefly only because I was getting tired and didn't feel quite included with the group of people I went with.

Phở'198
Rating: 4/5

This is a Vietnamese restaurant located Côte-des- Neiges. I ordered a regular sized Phở Tái, which is basically a beef broth with rice noodles and raw slices of beef steak. The broth was so hearty, flavorful, and had the right amount of saltiness. I didn't like their choice of hot sauce because it didn't have the right amount of kick unless you use a lot. As always, I added some lime but I felt that it didn't really needed it since it was so good. I wanted to drink all of the broth but I was too full. I shared some Vietnamese iced coffee. Traditionally, the serve it early so you can watch it drip into a separate cup but they served it already mixed. It was a bit more stronger than what I'm used to and I think it's because they used less condensed milk. The decor was bright neon furniture and utensils. I hated the walls and whatever they added on to the ceiling. However, they have a patio which is always awesome and their bathrooms was nicer then the ones in Edmonton. The meal is 6$ and the coffee is only 3$.

Out and About

I ran some errands to finish up before Saturday. I went to Mark's Work Warehouse to return the shirts my Dad end up not liking. (Yay 42$ back!) Then he drove us to Starbucks where we proceeded to order some iced drinks. After that we went all the wayyyyyyy to the UofAAAAAA so  I can do my school shiznit. I paid my library fee (1$) and my deposit (175$ boo!). I walked all the way to ETLC to talk to an advisor but ended up having the darn secretary answer my questions instead. SIGH!!

Bussing to WEM sure is tiring but I managed to exchange my
shoes, buy new socks, and did a lot of window shopping all in the company of my lovely cousin, Peter. When I left his apartment it took 40 minutes for a bus to come. In that time, I took some pictures. Yay!

This is
me and my hair and my hoodie. As you can see, my hair is started to frizz due to the rain. I think I'll use this as my display picture. Maybe.

First Blog

This is my first blog on this site. Previously, I had a LiveJournal but I feel like I needed a fresh start. Today I have to go to the UofA to pay my deposit and head on over to the mall to exchange some shoes. I'll be meeting my cousin later so we can hang before I go to Montreal.

I'm almost done my packing. I just need to do laundry and pack the clothes that I've missed.
